3D Printing Research Program Call for Proposals

3D-Printed Simulation, Patient Education and Research

The EdTech Incubator (ETI) is excited to announce the call for proposals in educational and clinical 3D printing for its 3D Printing Research Program. Ohio State faculty are invited to submit project proposals for 3D printing related to simulation, patient education and/or research. Faculty that submit a successful proposal will be matched with at least one student who has completed 3D printing training within the Division of Anatomy to design and manufacture the 3D printed project.

For Faculty

If you submit a proposal, please ensure that you have read the expectations for the project below and click the appropriate boxes in the proposal form, confirming that you agree. 

  • Faculty agree to meet at least once per week with the student(s) throughout the duration of the project. 
  • The ETI and the Health Sciences Library will provide each accepted project with $200 in funding for materials. All material costs exceeding $200 must be approved by the faculty’s department. 
  • The software utilized in the 3D printing workflow is free but has clinical use limitations based on FDA regulations.

Submit Proposal

For Students

Students who are enrolled or have completed Anatomy 6100 are eligible to sign up for the 3D Printing Research Program through the ETI. Before signing up, please ensure you have read the project expectations and responsibilities:

  • Students agree to meet at least once per week with their assigned faculty member throughout the duration of the project.
  • Students are responsible for assisting in project planning and execution as directed by faculty.
  • Students will check in with the ETI staff for project guidance as needed.
  • The ETI and the Health Sciences Library will provide each accepted project with $200 in funding for materials. All material costs exceeding $200 must be approved by the faculty’s department.
  • The software utilized in the 3D printing workflow is free but has clinical use limitations based on FDA regulations.
