ETI Hosts Immersive Biomaterials Workshop for Engineering Students
In late January, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering hosted an immersive workshop at the Health Sciences Library (HSL). The instructional session was led by Dr. Elvin Beach, an associate professor of practice in materials science and engineering, for his MATSCEN 3332 Junior Lab course.
This workshop session gave around 30 students the opportunity to create lattice structures and biomaterial applications that could be used to assist clinicians in improving patient outcomes. The session was held in the EdTech Incubator (ETI) technology hub in the HSL, in the 3D Printing Zone where students used engineering design techniques to construct their applications.
Peter Fallon, laboratory supervisor, assisted in the workshop and supported students throughout the printing and clean up process. He guided students to ensure they were able to successfully translate the digital designs created in class into functional models in the lab.
To schedule time in the ETI 3D Printing Zone or other technology zones for your class or research, send an email to ETI@osumc.edu or complete the ETI contact form.
